CBI arrests Telecom General Manager S K Aggarwal for allegedly seeking Rs 80,000 as bribe; three Delhi middlemen nabbed too



Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited General Manager (Telecom) S K Aggarwal was arrested on Saturday evening on corruption charges by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths. The CBI team also arrested three middlemen, who were allegedly hand-in-glove with the GM for allegedly seeking bribe for hiring security agency.



According to sources, Aggarwal was arrested from the BSNL office near the Bharat Nagar Chowk around 6.30 pm.



Sources told Newsline, the GM held a meeting with the BSNL employees’ union on Saturday afternoon. Around 3:30 pm, the GM left for the office of Mohan Lal, Deputy General Manager (DGM), Administration, Ludhiana Telecom. Lal was present when the CBI team arrested Aggarwal.



DGM Mohan Lal, said, “The CBI officers had an FIR registered against him (Aggarwal), but I don’t know anything about the charges levelled against him.”




While confirming the charges of corruption against the GM, CBI Deputy Inspector General Mahesh Aggarwal said, “We have arrested S K Aggarwal on the complaint of one Pal Singh. The complainant had told us that he had applied to the tenders for providing security guards to the department. But a middleman asked him to give a bribe of Rs 80,000 to the GM. Pal Singh then lodged a complained with the CBI alleging that the middleman had also sought 50 per cent share from his earnings. The middlemen arrested from Delhi include Sanjay Raj Kochar, Kamal Kishore and Raj Pal.”
