BSNL Workers Alliance meeting BSNL Workers Alliance meeting with Wage Negotiation
Committee draws blank
The much publicized meeting of the “BSNL Workers Alliance”, with the Wage
Negotiation Committee was held today the 16-11-2009. It is understood that the
meeting took place for 30 minutes. Leaders of the BWA presented their demands to
the management side. However, it is learnt that no discussion took place between the
Management side and the leaders of the BSNL Workers Alliance. It is further learnt
that in the meeting Management side took the position, “We will only listen and we
will not give any reply.”
Efforts of BSNLEU for Unity go in vain
BSNL Employees Union took sincere efforts to evolve united approach between all
Unions to settle the wage revision. On 24-10-2009, Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, GS and
Com.P.Abhimanyu, Dy.GS, met Com.N.T. Sajwani, SG, NFTE and Convenor, BSNL
Workers Alliance and appealed for unity to settle wage revision issue. A few days
later, Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, GS and Com.P.Abhimanyu, Dy.GS met
Com.K.Vallinayagam, General Secretary, NUBSNLW(FNTO) and appealed for unity.
Both Com. N.T.Sajwani and Com.K.Vallinayagam assured to give their reply after
due consultations with their alliance partners.Com. P.Abhimanyu, Dy.GS, BSNLEU,
while addressing the open session All India Conference of NUBSNLW(FNTO), held
at Patna on 9th November, 2009, made an appeal to all the partners of the BSNL
Workers Alliance to come forward for a united approach on wage revision issue. He
even appealed to the Unions of BSNL Workers Alliance to participate in the wage
negotiation committee meeting, on 17-11-2009, jointly with BSNLEU and other
United Forum Unions. However, it is unfortunate that the BSNL Workers Alliance
has not so far responded to the unity move of the BSNLEU. Instead they preferred to
have a separate discussion with the management.
