[19.04.2010]JAC unanimously decides to go ahead with the Indefinite Strike from 0600 hrs. on 20.04.2010
A meeting of the JAC was held today at New Delhi, at 1000 hrs, under the Chairmanship of Com. N.T. Sajwani. Representatives of all the unions and associations of the Non-Executives and Executives participated in the meeting. The meeting reviewed the discussions held with the Hon’ble Minister of Communications and CMD, BSNL on 16.04.2010. After taking all the aspects into consideration, the meeting came to a unanimous decision that the strike shall start as per the schedule. The indefinite stay out strike will start from 0600 hrs on 20.04.2010. All the CHQ Office-bearers as well as Circle, District and Branch Secretaries are requested to make all-out efforts to make the strike 100% successful.

[16.04.2010]Meeting with Minister Communications:- The Joint Action Committee had a meeting with the Minister Communications & IT today, 16th April 2010 at Sanchar Bhawan. The Secretary, DOT. Member(Services), CMD BSNL, Director (HR) and other senior officers were present. All the issues raised in the strike notice were discussed.
Meeting with Secretary, DOT.:- Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, General Secretary, BSNLEU met Shri P.J.Thomas, Secretary, DOT today, 16th April and discussed about the wage revision. He impressed upon the Secretary the urgency of approving the wage revision proposals early so that the non-executive wage revision orders can be issued by the management. Secretary, DOT responded positively.
[16.04.2010]Minister Communications Meet Joint Action Council:-Meeting is arranged at 1230 hours on 16th April, Friday between Minister Communications and Joint Action Council on the demands of the indefinite strike called by BSNL workers.
Press Conference by Joint Action Council:- Press Conference was held today, 15th April 2010 at the Press Club, New Delhi to brief the press about the indefinite strike and the demands of the workers. A good number of media persons attended. Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, Convener, JAC and other leaders explained issues in detail. There was good response from the press.

[14.04.2010]Central Trade Unions support BSNL
All the Central Trade Unions including INTUC and BMS in their meeting on 13th April, 2010, presided over by Shri. Sanjeeva Reddy, President, INTUC, fully supported the Indefinite Strike of BSNL Workers with effect from 20th April, 2010. Earlier, CITU in its All India Conference had adopted a resolution supporting the strike.
JCA expresses its thanks to all the Central Trade Unions for their support.

[12.04.2010]Meeting with CMD BSNL on 12-04-2010:-Com. V.A.N. Namboodiri, General Secretary, BSNLEU along with Com. K.R.Yadav, Vice President, met Shri Kuldeep Goyal, CMD on 12-04-2010 and discussed the following issues:-
1. Wage Revision:- Union pointed out the urgency of approval by DOT and issue of orders. CMD assured that he is in contact with DOT for early approval and once approval is received, orders will be issued.
2. Reduction of Post in J.T.O. etc.:- Union opposed the management’s proposal to reduce about 25,000 posts of JTOs/SDEs which will adversely affects the promotional prospects of non-executives employees. CMD stated that there is no immediate proposal for reduction of posts.
Meeting with Executive Director(Finance):- Com V.A.N Namboodiri, General Secretary and K.R.Yadav, Vice President BSNLEU met Shri S.R.Kapoor, Executive Director (Finance) on 12-04-2010 and impressed the urgency of issuing orders on the anomaly issue of seniors getting less than juniors in lower cadre, resulted due to the point-to-point fixation in wage revision from CDA to IDA w.e.f. 01-10-2000. ED(Finance) assured early issue of orders.

ASSURANCES BY MANAGEMENT
CMD BSNL will personally monitor for speedy orders from DoT.
GM SR will pursue the case on day to day basis in DoT.
Orders on wage Revision will be issued immediately after approval by DoT.
Formal Agreement will be signed after approval of DoT.
The rumour that file was returned to BSNL is baseless.
Perks & Allowances will be paid from the date of Committee report.
On the basis of these assurances and decisions, the indefinite hunger strike deferred.
