[28.02.2011]New National Steering Committee of United Forum is formed
The United Forum meeting was held at New Delhi on 26.02.2011, under the chairmanship of Com. Suresh Kumar (GS, BSNL MS). Convenor Com. V.A.N. Namboodiri welcomed all and reported on the current developments. Representatives of BSNLEU, TEPU, BSNL MS, SEWA BSNL, NFTBE and FNTOBEA participated in it. BSNLEU was represented by Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS and Com. P. Asokababu, Dy. GS.
A new National Steering Committee is formed in the meeting with two members from each union. Members of the new Steering Committee are:-

Com.V.A.N. Namboodiri is elected as the convenor and Com. Suresh Kumar is elected as the Chairman. The National Steering Committee has decided that similar Steering Committees of the United Forum should be formed at all circle and district levels, with two representatives from each union / association. It is emphasized that formation of such Steering Committees are very essential for the cohesive functioning of the alliance. March 15th is fixed as the ultimatum for formation of the Circle and District level steering committees as well as for finalizing of the nominations to the Local and Circle Councils. District and Circle Secretaries are requested to make note of this and implement the decisions meticulously.
[26.02.2011]Decisions of the United Forum Meeting held on 26.02.2011
United Forum meeting took place today the 26.02.2011. Com.Suresh Kumar (GS, BSNLMS) presided over the meeting. Convenor, Com.V.A.N. Namboodiri welcomed all. The representatives of BSNLEU, TEPU, BSNLMS, SEWA BSNL, NFTBE and FNTOBEA attended today’s meeting. A new National Steering Committee with two members from each union is constituted. Com.Suresh Kumar is elected as the Chairman and Com.V.A.N. Namboodiri is elected as Convenor of the National Steering Committee.
The Steering Committee reviewed the formation of Steering Committees at Circle and District levels. It was decided that Steering Committees wherever not formed, should immediately be formed by 15th March, 2011. The nominations for District and Circle councils should also be got approved in the Steering Committee by the 15th March, 2011. Circle and District Secretaries are requested to note this. They should ensure that nominations to District and Circle councils are approved by the concerned Steering Committee by 15th March, 2011.

[24.02.2011]CHQ requests BSNL management to allot sufficient funds
CHQ is receiving complaints from many circles that Corporate Office is not releasing sufficient funds for the payment of GPF, NEPP arrears etc. Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS, met the GM, BBF and discussed the issue. GM (BBF) said that due to shortage of cash, Corporate Office is not able to release sufficient funds to circles. GS explained the difficulties being faced by employees in this regard and requested to release sufficient funds on time.
[24.02.2011]Modifications to NEPP
The modifications sought by BSNLEU to the NEPP are yet to be accepted by the management. Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS, met the Senior GM (Estt.) today and discussed the issue. He insisted upon the management to immediately take decision. Sr.GM (Estt.) suggested that a full fledged discussion on these modifications could be held. General Secretary accepted this proposal. The tentative date for this discussion is fixed as 9th March, 2011.

Com.V.A.N. Namboodiri, President, BSNLEU met Shri Shakeel Ahmad, DDG (Estt.) and other officers in DoT today, 17.02.2011 and discussed about issue of Pension Revision of Pre-2007 BSNL retirees.
The file is pending with Director (Finance) for preparing clarifications raised by the Member (Finance). Member (F) is out of station and is expected at HQ next week. The Pension Revision order may be issued by next week.

[11.02.2011]Nominations to Circle and Local Councils
Circle and District Secretaries are requested to strictly adopt the following procedures in sending nominations for Circle and Local Councils: -
i) The names for Circle and Local Council members should compulsorily be discussed and finalized in the Circle and District Steering Committees of the United Forum, and thereafter sent to the CHQ.
ii) The proposals for nominations should be sent by post only. Nominations through fax will not be accepted as it leads to some problems.
[11.02.2011]February 23rd March to Parliament
Once again Circle Secretaries are reminded about the necessity to mobilise for the historic February 23rd March to the parliament. Many of the demands are directly concerned with the future well being of BSNL and it’s employees. Hence, all Circle Unions are requested to compulsorily send comrades for participation in the March to the Parliament. Circles nearer to New Delhi have the responsibility to make more mobilization. All are requested to come with flags and banners of BSNLEU.
[11.02.2011]BSNL Staff Welfare Board meeting on 21.02.2011
A meeting of the BSNL Staff Welfare Board will be held on 21st February, 2011. Com. V.A.N. Namboodiri, President and Com. P. Abhimanyu, General Secretary will represent the Recognised Union in that meeting. Important issues connected with staff welfare may kindly be sent immediately to CHQ for taking up in the meeting.
[10.02.2011]United Forum steering committees to be formed.
It has been decided in the United Forum National Steering Committee meeting, held on 07-02-2011, that steering committees should be formed at the Circle and SSA levels by 20-02-2011. Each union will have two members in the steering committee. Convenor of the committee will be from BSNLEU side. Nominations to the Circle Council and Local Councils should be first finalised in the respective steering committee and thereafter sent to the CHQ for approval. Formation of Circle and Local steering committees may be done by 20-02-2011. All Circle and District Secretaries are requested to make note of this and cooperate please.

[07.02.2011]Make widest mobilization for the 23rd February “March to Parliament” :- As a corollary to the 7th September, 2010 Nation wide strike, the Central Trade Unions and Industrial Federations have given call for a March to Parliament on 23.02.2011. This programme is against the anti people economic policies of the government, disinvestment & privatization of the PSUs, price rise, proposal to modify the Labour Laws etc. BSNL Employees Union is a party to the decision. Hence, all Circle Secretaries are requested to mobilize the workers for the rally. Especially, the Circles nearer to New Delhi are requested to make the maximum mobilization. This is a very important task and Circle, District Secretaries are requested to implement it with due seriousness.
[07.02.2011]Recognition after 5th membership verification :- Vested interests are spreading the rumour that BSNLEU would not be given recognition due to the Kerala High Court Directive. This is totally baseless. The Kerala High Court directive does not bar the management from granting recognition to BSNLEU. Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS, BSNLEU met the Senior GM (SR) today and discussed the issue. Sr.GM (SR) assured our General Secretary that recognition order will be issued. He also stated that the court directive is not a bar for granting recognition.

BSNLEU has won the elections in BSNL for the record 4th time in a row. In the polling held on 1st February, 2011, BSNLEU has got 106971 votes. It has won the elections by a whopping margin of 26671 votes. BSNLEU has achieved this feat eventhough 18,000 workers have retired since the last verification. Despite forming a mega alliance consisting of nine unions, NFTE has once again bitten the dust. The workers have also taught a lesson to those ‘turncoats’ who enjoyed the fruits of the recognition till the last minute and thereafter started backbiting BSNLEU.
BSNLEU expresses it’s sincere thanks to the workers for the unflinching faith that they have reposed on it. BSNLEU also expresses it’s gratitude to the leaders and cadres who tirelessly worked for the past two months, for this historic victory. To mark this victory, CHQ calls upon the Circle, District and Branch Unions to celebrate victory day on 04.02.2011, by distributing sweets to all.
