• CANCEL IILLEGAL ROAMIING BY PRIIVATE TELECOM OPERATORS

TheJointActionCommitee(JAC)ofBSNLAsociations/UnionsofExecutivesand Non-Executiveshas givenacaltotheBSNLworkerstoorganiselunchhourdemonstrationsinfrontofofices/exchangesat SSA/Circle /corporate ofice levelson 10thJanuary 2012 demanding refund ofthe BW A Spectrum chargesto the BSNLand also forearlycancelation oftheilegal3G roaming beingprovided bythe privatetelecom companiesincircleswheretheyhavenotbeenalotedanyspectrum . BSNLwasnotalowedtoparticipateintheauctionfortheBW ASpectrum butwascompeledtopayRs. 8313croretowardsBW Aspectrum inalthecirclesinthecountry,whileprivateplayerswerealowed toparticipateintheauction,selectchoiceoftheircirclesandpaychargesforthatonly.Furtherthe BW Aspectrum alotedtoBSNLwasunsuitableforhighertechnologies,whilethosealotedforprivate companieswere ofahigherquality.Hence the BSNLasalso the JAC had demanded thatthe BW A Spectrum be alowed to be surendered and thatthe amountpaid to government be refunded. Althoughitisunderstood thatthe DOThasinprincipleagreedtotheproposal,butsofarnoaction seemstohave beentakentorefundtheamount,whichisverymuchneeded bythecompanyinits presentcriticalsituation. Theamountshouldberefundedwithoutanydelay. W ithregardtotheterminationoftheilegal3G roamingbeingprovided bytheprivatecompanieslike BhartiAirtel,VodafoneandIdeainthosecirclesinwhichthey havenotgot3Gspectrum,theDOThas taken the corectdecision to terminate the same,butisquestioned by the private companiesin TDSAT. BSNLhas been compeled to pay3G Spectrum chargesforalcircles,even withoutbeing alowedtoparticipateintheauctionandwasforcetopayahugeamountofRs.10,186croreto DOT. How canthisdiscriminationstandthejudicialscrutiny? ThedecisionoftheDOTiscorectanditshould beimplementedwithoutdelay. On theabovetwo isues,the BSNLworkers,executivesand Non-Executiveswilbeorganisinglunch hourdemonstrationson10thJanuary2012throughoutthecountry.JACdemandsthegovernmentand theDOTtoconcedetheabovedemands,whicharefulyjustified,withoutanyfurtherdelay.
