Our country is gearing up at putting a hold of the spectrum auctions for the fourth generation (4G) mobile services by the year end. It has even wrapped up its plans to sell off radio waves for the 2G services, as responded by the Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal.

Sibal said, “We are actually all set to auction 4G (spectrum) by the end of the year. Our intention is that as we have enough spectrum now, we can share it with everyone,” when he was present at the India Day function organized by his ministry at the Mobile World Congress.

The government will be in offer of sufficient radio waves for all operators after its’ release from the defense services and also the cancellation of 122 2G new licenses by the Supreme Court in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

Sibal continued, “We wonder if we would put every spectrum for auction. But that relies completely on what Mr Sarma (Trai Chairman) does for us. The concept is that we bring out enough spectrum so that the price becomes quite reasonable for ourselves.”

He told, “We will hold auction spectrum. When that auction will happen, it is something that we have to plan out properly and work on it. The process is too tough and complex, but we’ll do it. The process should be very much clear.”
